Blissful Corners: Small but Mighty Stools

one of the most underrated design elements, in my opinion, is the small but mighty stool. of all the pieces in my home, my round wooden stool has been one of the most constant. it has been a nightstand, a side table, a plant stand, a footstool, a magazine/pillow holder and probably more. it has made the cut through various moves and i am guessing will be around for the remaining. at first i didn’t realize how many of my favorite homes also incorporate a small stool into their decor…however, i think i just hadn’t looked closely enough…

now that i have decided to give credit to this quiet/important element, i am thinking i may need a few more throughout these blissful corners of mine.

i decided to consult chairish and look what i have found.

I Would Stay There…The Amigo Motor Lodge.

the typical motor lodge holds a special place in my heart. i remember family road trips as a child, driving until we were all too tired to possibly go another mile and waiting for that magical vacancy sign to appear out of nowhere. i remember waiting in the car while my dad ran into the lobby, returning with a key attached to a plastic key ring and pulling right up to the door of the spot we would call home for the night. i also remember the mister and i taking backroads (about a million and a half years ago), with marcy playground blaring over the jeep speakers, looking for that same vacancy. motor lodges are all the right kind of americana and i couldn’t be happier that folks like philip and kaitlyn must have the same type of soft spot for them that i do. this couple is responsible for my latest favorite amongst favorites the amigo motor lodge out of salida, co.

back in the day, i had no idea this whole motor lodge thing would become stylish and that the resurgence of the midcentury motel could result in something so beautiful….

i am sensing a road trip coming on…

well, i fell in love today. this home. designed by this gal. i am in love up to my eyebrows. the fireplace and the chairs that flank it makes my heart beat fast. let’s get real, it all makes my heart want to pop out of my chest. “happy place” is an understatement.
